Is there something I have configured incorrectly? If it helps, earlier versions of Mint and VirtualBox had no problems in mounting the shared folder; but I have also faced this issue when trying out other distress; so the issue is not related merely to Mint. I am guessing I have to ask this question ion a VirtualBox forum and not in a Mint forum.

Mint It is merely that in Mint, the only entry under "Networks" is Windows, I have no idea why. Code: Select all sudo gpasswd -a tilt vboxsf.
I downloaded the guest additions iso, but when I try to click on Devices Insert Guest Aditions Image, I get an error window saying Unable to insert virtual optical disc? Problem solved. So, I ran the outrun in that disk image and it installed the guest additions, and then I added myself to the group like you said, and it is all well now. Bear in mind that above mount command has to run as root superuser to succeed. What if you end up with mounting failed errors? In some VBox releases this error was caused by bugs in the Virtual Machine.
